CARERS OXFORDSHIRE
Carers Oxfordshire is provided in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council and provides a free service for all unpaid or informal carers aged 18 and over who care for another adult.
A grant is available to any carer who provides a minimum of 10 hours care for a relative, friend or neighbour per week. This grant is not means tested and will not affect other benefits or entitlements although if the cared for is in receipt of Self Directed Support through Adult Social Care or has received a GP Break grant in the last financial year, they will not be eligible.
The grant can be used for any activity which supports carers well being such as IT equipment, a break or holiday, help with gardening or cleaning costs, educational course or leisure activities etc. The grant is for a maximum of £350, and needs to be used within one year. The current funding will expire on the 31st March 2012.
A new website offering some excellent information and advice for carers is www.carersoxfordshire.org.uk .
Application forms are available by calling this office on 01235 424715

In Kenya, where we are presently raising money for a water project, the women will be growing Moringa oleifera - known as the "Miracle tree" with its potent mix of essential and disease preventing nutrients. (see June 2011 News and Views)
Help us to raise the money needed for these women to have access to this truly miracle tree as soon as possible.
Until now all the Pennies for Friendship that have been collected have been sent to ACWW. The NFWI has now decided that they want the money that we collect and send in every March to go to the administration of Oxford projects. (We at Weston usually collect at the refreshment bar and send it in either to ACWW or the Oxfordshire Project.)
