What you can expect.
Our meetings start with a short business session to report on WI issues and events in Oxfordshire and on the national scene. This is usually followed by a talk or demonstration chosen by members from an extensive list of speakers. Over the Years we have had speakers on such diverse subjects as animals, gardening, history, travel, literature, acting, broadcasting, art and hobbies. We even had a talk and a demonstration of barrel organs!. Once a year we have a meal out together and a summer BBQ although the weather is not always kind to us.... Tea or coffee and cakes follow each meeting and this gives us a chance to chat and sign up for workshops, outings and other events.
Some of our members enjoy theatre trips, others join outings to museums, exhibitions, guided walks and tours. We also have multi-skilled members who meet regularly to share their particular craft expertise. We make every effort to ensure that our programme reflects the many interests of our members but are always willing to attempt something new, if there is sufficient support.
We support events organised country-wide by the Oxfordshire Federation, some are serious, some are sporty, some are educational and some competitive; all are fun. Twice a year we meet with neighbouring Institutes to share ideas, a light supper, a special speaker and perhaps a competition.
